Education

Dr. Nicola Kimm holds a PhD (Dr. rer. pol.) in Economics & Business Engineering from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Calgary, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Science in Ecology from the University of Calgary.

Career

Dr. Nicola Kimm started her professional career in 1997 as a manufacturing engineer at BASF in the USA. After technical, operational and communications roles in Germany and Singapore, she was Senior Manager, Sustainability Strategy, at BASF headquarters in Ludwigshafen from 2008 to 2011.

From 2011 to 2014, she was Director, Global Head of Sustainability, at the Dutch food ingredients and biochemicals company Corbion NV. In 2014, she moved to the Dutch Philips Group and, as of 2016, was Vice President, Sustainability, Environment, Health & Safety, at the spin-off Signify N.V.

Since 1 September 2021, Dr. Nicola Kimm has been Chief Sustainability Officer of Heidelberg Materials. She is in charge of Environmental Social Governance (ESG, i.a. climate strategy), Research & Development and Technologies & Partnerships.
