UBC Student Union Building

The new Student Union Building, a.k.a. "The Nest", is a unique destination that serves as a dynamic gathering place for students to interact and grow a vibrant student community on the University of British Columbia (UBC)-Vancouver campus. Located on University Square, this outstanding facility features the highest levels of sustainable building design and an innovative Student-Driven Decision-Making Process that serves as a model for future developments on UBC.

The new Student Union Building achieved LEED Platinum status, the highest Green Building rating in North America. HeidelbergCement’s subsidiary Rempel Bros. Concrete delivered more than 14,000 m3 of concrete based on Ecocem, an environmentally responsible alternative to normal Portland Cement (Type GU) that can be used for concrete in non-sulphate exposures.
