The renewed Hungexpo

Hungexpo, one of the largest exhibition and event venues in Hungary has been renewed as a part of a revitalization program. The project started in October 2019 and was completed in September 2021.

During the works, the existing pavilions were renovated and modernized, while two new exhibition halls, a new reception building and a congress centre were constructed. In addition, the entire public utility infrastructure of the site has been renewed, landscaping has also taken place, and a new parking lot with thousands of spaces has been created.

With its 26 section rooms and state-of-the-art audiovisual technology, the congress centre can accommodate a plenary session with 2,000 participants.

Duna-Dráva Cement's concrete business line supported the project with ready-mixed concrete products from October 2019 until the end of August 2021. During the construction, nearly 40,000 m³ of various types of ready-mixed concrete were produced and used.

Furthermore, the C30/37-XC2-24-F3 special industrial floor concrete grade was also incorporated in the building of Hungexpo. Industrial floor concrete is typically used in the construction of halls, production halls and warehouses. A properly prepared industrial floor is almost invisible to the outside observer. When finished, it is extremely aesthetic and durable, which makes it also suitable for use in these buildings. It is important that the structure is in good technical condition, as it must provide the buildings with decades of stability.

The project development was designed by Finta Stúdió and the contractor was KÉSZ Építő és Szerelő Zrt., while the project was managed by the 100% state-owned Expo Park Kft.

As a result of the construction, Budapest now can earn a better position in the ranking of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA).
