It was architecture agency Axel Schoenert who designed the complete revitalisation of the headquarters of Leboncoin Group at 22-24 rue des Jeûneurs, in the heart of the Sentier, 2nd arrondissement Paris, France.

The 1970s-era building has been fully modernised, with the work carried out by general contractor Legendre. The U-shaped building was stripped of its massive precast concrete facade elements on street-facing sides, which were replaced by a double skin: the first layer comprises curtain walls and aluminum frames, the second is made up of decorative panels in brilliant white self-cleaning concrete panels made of ULTRA ACTIVE cement. Fine concrete elements are added as decoration on the exterior facades.

But, in addition to the ultra-smooth white surface, it was the de-polluting photocatalytic characteristics of the concrete panels which attracted architect Axel Schoenert. “In a highly urbanised neighborhood, we wanted to create a breath of fresh air. Due to the de-polluting and self-cleaning properties, the choice of BHP panels ensured a means of local regeneration which perfectly met our aspirations."

Renovation of the facades required 84 tonnes of ULTRA ACTIVE cement from Heidelberg Materials subsidiary Calcia.
