Data Engineer Product Analytics (f/m/d)

In our mission to become a data driven company we decided to bundle Data Analytics topics and Data Science within our new team “Data & Insights”. With this new team we will avoid people and data silos and be able to meet objective technology decisions when it comes to Data Analytics.

We will build a rock-solid foundation by putting in place the processes, organizational structures, technical infrastructure, training, and enablement to support broad adoption of our analytics solutions. We will pave new ground to transform Heidelberg Materials from traditional reporting to a modern data driven company.

As part of our data driven approach, we want to build-up a suite of metrics and KPI’s around our big strategic software suites. In your role, as a Data Engineer (f/m/d), your contribution to this mission will be building data pipelines for retrieving, loading and transforming data related to our digital products. In addition, your work will focus on hands-on preparation of data for analysis and visualization. Therefore, you will have a direct impact on understanding the data quality and usage of our digital applications.

You will work closely with a cross-functional team of Data Analysts, Visualization experts, Solution Architects, Software Engineers, DevOps, and Product Owners. You will report directly to the Self-Service and Product Analytics Team Manager of the Data & Insights Department. This position is located in Heidelberg, Germany.

Your next challenge

  • Align analytics/data requirements with senior management stakeholders
  • Create product analytics solutions for our digital products HConnect and HProduce Suites
  • Setup a Data Lakehouse architecture with a team of data engineers and architects
  • Create and improve data models
  • Design solutions for data retrieval, transfer and ETL processes with Databricks or Azure Synapse
  • Ensure consistent data lineage for product analytics
  • Reconcile analytics solutions with Product Owners and Data Engineers as part of the development process of digital products
  • Combine your data skills with domain knowledge to measure the impact of our digital products

Your profile

  • University degree in computer science, data/software engineering or equivalent discipline
  • 4 years+ experience with Azure Cloud technologies
  • Knowledge of Databricks, Synapse, ADX, Azure Data Lake, Apache Spark and GIT
  • Programming experience in Python and SQL
  • Proven analytical skills coupled with problem-solving attitude
  • Tableau knowledge would be beneficial
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced agile environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Fluent in English
